What is NextGen Patient Portal?

NextGen Patient Portal is your personal health connection to your medical record at Coastal Physicians Medical Group. Via your Internet browser, and through a secure web-based connection from Coastal Physicians Medical Group you can access portions of your electronic medical record. NextGen Patient Portal will allow you to request appointments, view medication lists, request refills, and obtain test results quickly and securely. You will be able to print immunization records.

What are the minimum requirements to access NextGen Patient Portal?

To access NextGen Patient Portal, three items are required:

Who can participate?

NextGen Patient Portal is available to all Coastal Physicians Medical Group patients who are 12 years of age and older. Proxy accounts are also available for caregivers of seniors and patients with special healthcare needs. Parents with legal custody of a child up to the age of 12 may request proxy access to their child's account. Proxy status continues after age 12 but will convert to limited status as required by state law.

How do I sign up for NextGen Patient Portal?

Patients who wish to participate will recieve a self-enrollment link. Patient will follow the instrictions in their invitation email to enroll into the Patient Portal. Your practice will confirm enrollment request. Once aprroved, patient can log into the portal. You may call your physician's office to request a self-enrollment link.

Can I create my own password and change it when I want?

Yes, you can. Please keep your password confidential, and do not share it with anyone else. Your password can be changed online at anytime by you. Your password is not known by anyone at Coastal Physicians Medical Group. If you believe someone has found out your password, please change it. You can change your password in NextGen Patient Portal at anytime by choosing "Change password" under the Administrative options.

When I try to login, what should I do if NextGen Patient Portal keeps telling me "login unsuccessful"?

Make sure your Caps Lock key is not on. The password field is case sensitive. Make sure you do not enter extra spaces in either the NextGen Patient Portal ID or password boxes and try again. If you have forgotten your NextGen Patient Portal ID or password, click on the "Forgot Password?" link and fill in the form. If you continue to have difficulty, contact your primary care provider's office during their normal business hours.

Can I request access to my child or another adult’s NextGen Patient Portal information?

You may request access to your child's NextGen Patient Portal information and another adult may request that you be given access to their NextGen Patient Portal information. Once you have access, you can view their health information - including allergies, current medications, immunizations and lab results. You can even request appointments on their behalf. Restrictions that do apply include child age restrictions, so please talk to your physician's office for more information.

How do I get access to my child’s or another adult’s NextGen Patient Portal account?

To receive access to your child's information, please contact their doctor's office.

How is my personal health information secured by NextGen Patient Portal ?

Your NextGen Patient Portal personal health information is carried over a secure, encrypted connection. This secure connection utilizes industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption as well as server-side digital certificate authentication to ensure secure data transmission between you and Coastal Physicians Medical Group. To prohibit unauthorized access, all medical information is stored safely behind our firewall in our electronic medical record system.

Can I change my address online?

Yes. Using NextGen Patient Portal , you can change your address online by clicking the "Change Address" link.

Why are certain lab results not shared electronically via NextGen Patient Portal?

Your provider needs to release your lab results before they can be viewed in NextGen Patient Portal. There are times when a physcian may feel talking with you directly is a better way to communicate a result. If a lab result is not listed, please call your physician's office.

Can I print information from NextGen Patient Portal?

Yes. NextGen Patient Portal offers a "Printer Friendly Page" link that will display and print your information in an easy-to-read format. You will notice a "Printer Friendly Page" link on the upper right side of most pages.

NextGen Patient Portal logged me out! What happened?

NextGen Patient Portal wants to protect your privacy. While logged into NextGen Patient Portal, if your keyboard remains idle for 20 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of NextGen Patient Portal. Any information you have typed will be lost. We recommend that you log out of your NextGen Patient Portal session if you need to leave your computer.

I am not receiving alerts to my regular email when I have new NextGen Patient Portal information. What is wrong?

Sign onto NextGen Patient Portal and click "Change Email Address". Be sure that your email address has been accurately entered. Make sure that the "Internet E-mail Alerts" box is checked. Then click the "submit changes" button.

Some of my health information on NextGen Patient Portal is not correct. How can I get this corrected?

Your NextGen Patient Portal information comes directly from your electronic medical record at Coastal Physicians Medical Group. Ask your provider to correct any inaccurate information at your next office visit. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic medical record during each visit.

Will there be any charges to use NextGen Patient Portal?

NextGen Patient Portal is a complimentary tool from Coastal Physicians Medical Group that provides secure and convenient web access to your doctor and to your Coastal Physicians Medical Group record. There are no fees to access your medical record, request prescription refills, request appointments or to seek nurse advice.

What is the difference between teen and parent proxy access to a teen's account?
